Despite its deliciousness, the pomegranate is one of the hardest fruits to eat. Once you cut it open, the seeds are stuck behind a bitter-tasting white membrane, and trying to pull them out with your fingers just results in a huge mess.
You can break it open underwater to make it easier, but it turns out the quickest, most painless way to de-seed a pomegranate is by "spanking" it.
Just cut the fruit in half, place it flat in your hand with the cut side down, and hit it with a sturdy utensil like a spatula or wooden spoon until the seeds fall out. Check out Foodbeast's video to see how it's done.
Granted, the bowl of water method is probably a little cleaner, but this looks like a lot more fun. Got any other tricks? Share them with us in the comments below.

Or just have some patience and peel it instead of popping half the seeds. Sit in front of your favorite tv show, peel it during one episode and eat it during the next.
